At approximately 9:52 a.m., Cleburne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area north of Quitman where it was reported that an individual had been shot by a property owner. Deputies arrived to find a white male (Fred Clark 12-29-1972) lying on the ground, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A vehicle belonging to the deceased individual was found in a nearby wooded area. It appears at this time that the individual had walked from his vehicle to the residence where the shooting took place. The homeowner did not know Mr. Clark. The home owner was transported to the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning and later released. The investigation in on going!
