Greer's Ferry Thefts

Following leads that developed from the recovery of a stolen ATV on Badders road December 2nd, investigators from the Cleburne County Sheriff?s Office have recovered more stolen property. On Thursday afternoon a camper trailer reported stolen from the Greer?s Ferry area was recovered at a residence at 8099 Edgemont Road in Greer?s Ferry. Later Thursday evening a second stolen ATV from Greer?s Ferry Lake Marine & ATV was recovered in the Mill Creek area, followed by a third ATV, also stolen from Greer?s Ferry Lake Marine & ATV, which was recovered in Greenbrier on Friday morning. A generator, GPS, and assorted fishing tackle stolen from a boat at Shiloh Marina was also recovered from the same residence in Greer?s Ferry on Friday Morning. With the assistance of Sherwood Police Department and the Faulkner County Department of Community Correction, and Faulkner County Sheriff's Office, investigators also recovered a Chevrolet pickup and a Chevrolet Impala stolen from the Greer?s Ferry area. The two vehicles were recovered at a body shop and garage in the city of Sherwood. Total value of the recovered property was in excess of $38,000. Jason Mehler, age 37, who had been living in Greer?s Ferry was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon and has been charged with, Criminal Use of a Prohibited Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Breaking and Entering, and multiple counts of Theft of Property. Along with Mehler, Wendi Gwatney, age 30, who had also been staying in Greer?s Ferry, was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving. Both Mehler and Gwatney were found hiding in a residence at 8099 Edgemont Road and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cleburne County Jail.
